Built it to study. Shipped it for dudes like me.
I'm Rohan Sharvesh from Bangalore. I first built Flunkey for myself — a tool for studying — then realized it had actual use. So here it is: free, open-source, yours.
It started as my study tool.
I spent a year on this. At first Flunkey existed for one user — me — something to make studying faster. But the more I used it, the clearer it got: this has actual use beyond my desk.
That meant months of learning and building it ground up — the hotkeys, the pill, the paste handling, all of it. No shortcuts in the process, just figuring it out piece by piece.
Why it's free? Because of who it's for.
Initially I thought of making it paid. Then I stopped and asked why I actually made it — and the answer was dudes like me. Students, people grinding through work, anyone who types all day and would rather speak.
Charging that crowd felt wrong, so I just put it out for free. You bring a Groq API key — which offers more than enough daily usage, trust me — and everything else is on the house.

The year of building
Spent a year learning for months and building Flunkey ground up — hotkeys, pill, paste handling, the works — starting from zero.
The flip to free
First thought of making it paid. Then remembered why it existed: for dudes like me. So it went out free — bring a Groq key, which covers more than enough daily usage. Trust me.
Right now
Beginning of the end of high school: 12th Boards, KCET, JEE Mains, and a ton of private exams still to get through.
What's next
Hopefully a great start at uni — ambitious about AI and keen to work in the field for startups or something like that. The longer endeavour: consulting, or something in that direction.
Why “Flunkey”? I just stumbled on the word.
Naming it was an accident. I randomly came across the word flunkey, looked it up, and it legit meant what my app was doing — a little helper that does what you tell it, no questions asked. So I used it. Check flunkey in the dictionary and tell me it isn't perfect.
