Remapping

Settings → Shortcuts → click the binding → press the new combo. The three rows ship as Voice→cursor F8 (0x77), Voice→AI F9 (0x78), Transform F10 (0x79) — any Ctrl/Alt/Shift/Win + key combo works, F1–F24 included. Esc cancels capture, conflicts are blocked, and Reset restores F8/F9/F10.

Resolving conflicts

  • If another app eats F8 (debuggers, IDEs), remap Flunkey to Ctrl+Alt+Space style combos
  • Laptop Fn-lock can turn F8 into a media key — toggle Fn-lock or remap
  • One binding per action; Flunkey warns if you double-assign

Muscle-memory migration

Coming from another dictation tool? Map Flunkey’s dictate to your old push-to-talk key first, then adopt F9/F10 once dictation feels automatic.

Settings reference

Everything lives in the left Sidebar → Settings and autosaves within 450ms to %APPDATA%\com.flunkey.desktop\flunkey-data.json (no secrets in the file — keys stay in Credential Manager). Hotkeys, overlay position, and autostart apply instantly; the Models page validates keys via Connect.

  • System Prompt (F9): textarea affecting only F9 chat, never F10
  • Show recording indicator — default ON (headless mode when OFF)
  • Preserve clipboard — default ON
  • Launch at startup — applied immediately via autostart plugin
  • Dictionary F8 / Dictionary F10 — default ON/ON
  • Chat ON/OFF lives in the overlay header, persisted
  • Wipe all data — 2-step danger action clearing store, keys, and clipboard (Windows Win+V history may persist)

Dashboard & Analytics

The Dashboard greets you by name with 4 stat cards (weekly F8/F9/F10 + total, each click-through), a 7-day GitHub-style Activity Calendar (levels 0 / 1–2 / 3–5 / 6–9 / 10+), and 8 merged Recent Activity items. Analytics goes deeper: total uses, top app, a feature split bar (F8 green #4ade80, F9 orange #fb923c, F10 purple #a855f7), per-app bars, 7-day buckets, and a Copy-summary export.
